Wow, it seems like recently all the big names in Taiwanese/Chinese music have decided to release their long-awaited albums in September, and perhaps on the same day too. 蔡依林 (Jolin Tsai)’s new album, “特務J”, or “Agent J”, is coming out on September 21 - apparently the same day as F.I.R. releasing their own album, 愛‧歌姬, or Love•Diva. Then again, 飛 (Faye) used to go to the same class with Jolin at college in Taiwan, so maybe it’s more than mere coincidence.
The first thing I thought when I saw the preview for the album (see following video) was that it’s very Aeon Flux-esque. If not Aeon Flux, then it’d be Underworld - the typical female secret agent in black, silently fulfilling a mission to kill someone/save the world. The song certainly reflects that.
