This is, unfortunately, one of Vivian Hsu’s most overlooked songs. Originally released in April 2005 as part of the album”狠狠愛” in 2005, it was re-released with other excellent songs (So-So, anyone?) earlier this year as part of a larger compilation - Love Vivian. (I do wish that Taiwanese singers would come up with more innovative and creative album names… It definitely shows how far Vivian Hsu has progressed from earlier albums like “我愛你X4″ (I Love You Four Times Over) to a more mature, and more multitalented singer.

This particular song is tricky to translate. 歐兜邁 doesn’t really mean anything in Chinese, but judging from the lyrics, I’d hazard a guess that it’s either a brand of motorcycles or some slang for it. After all, Chinese for “motorcycle” is 摩托車, or mo tuo che - quite different. Anyways, the song has a fast, catchy beat that I particularly like.

Thanks to my friend Sunny who introduced me to this song. Literally the title of this song is “Thinking is an Illness,” but the English name for the album is “Thinking of You” and so I’ll go with that.

This song is definitely one of my favorites. 張震嶽, or A-Yue, has a style that is in many ways similar to MC Hot Dog - the majority of his music has rap beats to it, and just like MC Hot Dog, he almost never repeats his lyrics except for the chorus. In an age where artists just write four or five lines and repeat them over and over again. Originality is truly not easy to find nowadays.

思念是一種病’s lyrics portray loneliness very well - another thing that sets A-Yue off from MC Hot Dog. While MC Hot Dog’s lyrics are usually cynical and sarcastic, his are true and so much more honest. Sharp-eyed readers may also remember him from the 我愛台妹 music video.

Do however, realize that this album has many R&B/Rap influences, and will probably be one of those albums people like to dance hip-hop to.This is the first song, 我的王國, or “My Kingdom”, and I really like it. Listen and see for yourself. The way he repeats his name continually reminds me of Jay Chou.
