Hello, 大家好! This is my first post here… But don’t be too alarmed. As for who I am: I am 18/M/NYC and available! (editor’s note: This guy’s desperate!) I also don’t understand Mandarin particularly well nor am I particularly literate in Chinese, so forgive me if I butcher anything. But the real reason for this post is a review of Guang Liang’s new album, 不會分離.
Most of the songs in the album on the whole don’t really deviate much from his older work. None of the songs are particularly memorable: I just listened to the entire album three times, and would not be able to hum the melody of any of them, so those of you looking for another 童話, you’re not likely to find one here. On the other hand, most of the songs retain the sort of sappy sentimentalism of his old songs, so if you enjoy that sort of stuff, which I definitely do, you can’t really go too wrong with this album.
Songs that I did like, though, were 不會分離 and 雙子星. 不會分離 is kind of sad in a sort of 童話 way, but the end is a lot happier and a lot more optimistic, especially in the MV. I’ll admit it, the song made me want to cry. The tune isn’t that catchy though, and after listening to plenty of Guang Liang’s songs, the whole key change at the end is starting to feel a bit tired and cliché. For that matter, when listening to the first song of the album, 煙火, I couldn’t help but feel a bit of déjà vu. The song basically sounds like a slightly worse version of 約定, which is basically a slightly worse version of 童話. 雙子星 is a pretty cute song, though. Maybe a bit too cutesy for some, but I kind of liked the sappy cuteness of the song. Some of the other songs were a bit too slow for me and made me want to put my head down on a pillow and fall asleep. 風雨同路 was definitely the biggest offender here. It’s quite slow and the lyrics are nothing special. I Am Who I Am is not bad, but it’s been around for a while and isn’t new on this album. I’ve heard this song before and thought it was pretty good. It’s not a sentimental love ballad, which is a bit rare for Guang Liang, and the chorus is a bit catchy. All in all, I’d probably recommend 童話 (the album, not just the song) over this one if you haven’t heard Guang Liang before, but if you’re a fan of his songs, 不會分離 is definitely worth listening to, despite most of the negativity in this review.

Justin | December 15, 2007I don’t completely agree.
I can easily say that Never Apart is like, the BEST guang liang song, but album wise, i would agree with you there. HIs old songs were better in numbers, but best song he’s made, i love Never apart. I hear it almost all the time. xD

大嘴巴 - 大嘴巴 / Da Mouth - Da Mouth Review « azn.music - Asian music for all! | December 25, 2007[...] things do make me cringe.) I think that too much of the albums released since October have been so sentimental and slow, so their music is a nice departure from that. One thing stands out especially: [...]
Actually i have another opinion regarding this album. This album
Jessie Leong | April 12, 2008Actually i have another opinion regarding this album. This album is actually using different concept from previous album. As u all can see those songs in this album is no longer much focus on sadness of the song but is another attitude towards love. Never Apart as the main song reminds us that no matter how far we apart from our love ones, but our heart will never apart. I really like the song and the MV. As for fireworks, the song remind us that two people already broke up and it remains as memory. As for xuang ji xing, the melody and whole concept of the song is very relaxed. I dont think he sang this kind of song in previous album. Lastly as for feng yu tung lu, this song is actually about the love for country as this song is one of the song in ai guo99 album (Malaysia). If u listens to the lyric, u will find it very meaningful because “through thick and thin we stand together”. He definately trying to use another concept to present his best songs to us. I m not literate in chinese and mandarin as well but i definately can feel the meaning of those songs.
